About ejsparkles

Brighton-based printmaker ejsparkles creates linocuts by combining organic forms with bold and vibrant colour blends at bip-Art Printmaking Studio.

A love of mid-century and art-deco design manifests through the use of geometric lines and contrasting textures.

E-J creates blends with oil-based inks using big rollers and a Colombian letterpress to print onto archival papers. She often uses the technique of chine-collé to add a unique point of interest to each print in the edition.

“I find using the Columbian press quite physical, a bit like rowing; methodical and meditative. To create colour blends for my larger prints, I use the long heavy rollers. I try to prepare as much as I can before a studio session but I always leave a bit of room for experimentation during the process. It seems that the magic always happens when you go with the flow.”
